pare che sono riusciti tramite una call a disabilitare la scheda intel.
io ho la i915 devo provare a fare qualche test con acpi_call.. qualche d'uno sarebbe interessato a darmi una mano?

Ottimo, quando torno a casa vado in current e ti do una mano.
Mi sovviene un dubbio guardando la procedura che hai linkato: ma se quello script permetterà lo switching tra le schede allora potrò installare anche i driver nvidia proprietari? Nouveau non serviva solo per usare la nvidia senza spegnere la intel (visto che non era possibile)?

si serve per usare solo la scheda nvidia, leggendo qua e la' ho scoperto che se e' abilitata solo la Nvidia funziona perfettamente il driver proprietario.
Nouveau non sarebbe altro che un evoluzione sempre opensource del driver nv.
il driver nouveau non supporta, in stable, il 3d ma solo il 2d. A dirla tutta c'e' una versione mooolto instabile che permette anche di far funzionare qualche cosa in 3d, ma non l'ho testata.

Mi è parso di capire che questo script va a modificare qualcosa nel precaricamento delle periferiche disabilitando la scheda intel e non facendola rilevare, oppure passando una una configurazione che verra' caricata al sucessivo reboot. Ripeto però che non ho letto bene il tutto perché non ero di fretta.
Aggiungo inoltre che la scheda di quel tipo e' intel GMA3150 mentre la nostra/mia dovrebbe essere i915.

ho testato la call \OSGS 0x01 e non funziona purtroppo
l'unica strada che possiamo percorrere ora è quella di trovare una call per disabilitare la scheda intel, non so veramente da dove partire però

Ho aggiornato alla current del 22/02 ma con mia grande delusione ho constatato che X non parte proprio, ne con intel, ne con nouveau. Ho deciso di blacklistare nouveau ma stesso risultato. La cosa mi stupisce, con la 13.1 la intel funzionava bene(apparte l'hdmi), mentre adesso non funziona niente, quando lancio x ho gli stessi problemi che avevo con la 13.1 e nouveau, solo che blacklistandolo intel andava senza problemi....Come posso ripristinare almeno la intel senza ritornare alla 13.1?

Beh, se non parte dovresti analizzare il log di X per capire come mai. Ad un certo punto c'è stato un grande cambiamento nel ramo current tanto che ZeroUno ha aperto un topic per parlarne. Quasi tutti abbiamo avuto più o meno dei problemi. Poi però li abbiamo risolti
.
Se non sai interpretare il log di X o se vuoi semplicemente un supporto morale (a volte aiuta) prova a postarlo qui e vediamo di risolvere insieme.

spina, io ho analizzato il log ma con nouveau non mi sembra ci sia nessun problema. Ora ho anche ricompilato il kernel, ma è ancora peggio. Non nascondo che rimpiango la stable. Ho notato che quando avvio X mi mostra per un attimo il logo intel in basso a destra del boot, quindi la cosa mi sembra piuttosto grave, poi si freeza. Adesso provo a salvarmi qualche log e lo posto così magari vediamo assieme dov'è il problema.

Sono riuscito a reperire solo il syslog, messages, perchè il log di xorg mi risulta vuoto....Se serve posterò anche il dmesg magari con pastebin

il link alle informazioni per il VGA_SWITCHEROO erano in uno dei post piu' indietro,abbiamo un hardware particolare non supportato da linux ancora ma ci sono dei workaround,se non trovi la maniera di far dormire una delle due schede,non ti funziona,questo e' quello che so'.

A noi server il log di X. Ma tu parti in init3 o 4? Quando avvii il PC hai accesso ad una console? Se si, avvia il server X con:così tutto l'output di Xorg ce l'hai anche in mio_file.

posso dire che il comportamento all'avvio di X è lo stesso sia senza xorg.conf sia con quello di default. Uso KMS ma anche disabilitandolo non riesco ad avviare + nemmeno la intel. Mi accontentavo anche di intel senza hdmi(anche se mi serviva), ma a questo punto mi chiedo: come fa paZ_ a usare nouveau?

no aspetta ti ho scritto che io ho disabilitato la scheda nvidia per far funzionare solo quella Intel.
Ti ho scritto poi che stanno lavorando ad un nuovo driver nouveau che potrebbe supportare la doppia scheda.. ma non l'ho provato
in tutti i casi dopo gli innumerevoli test ti posso dire che almeno nella conf intel + nvidia 420m non si puo' disabilitare la scheda intel perche' nvidia non ha accesso diretto allo schermo ma passa per la scheda intel
Infatti i driver Nvidia a me "funzionano benissimo" se imposto lo xorg con il giusto BusID, va tutto liscio senza errori pero' naturalmente ho lo schermo completamente nero
si dovrebbe provare quindi a fare una modifica hardware ma la vedo DURISSIMA
oppure fare in modo che la scheda intel faccia da ponte per quella nvidia via software..
Giusto per parlare per concetti astratti, secondo voi è possibile far si che l'output di nvidia vada ad uno schermo "virtuale" che non e' altro che un passaggio per la scheda intel che va allo schermo reale?
schematicamente: Nvidia -> Schermo Virtuale -> Intel -> Schermo fisico.
credo che pero' necessiti di una riscrittura anche del driver Intel cosa quindi non facile

Mi viene il dubbio che il problema di tutto è lo schermo. Se riuscissi almeno a ripristinare la intel potrei fare qualche prova migliore. A questo punto forse anche con la 13.1 il problema era solo lo schermo, e a proposito ho letto in giro che si potrebbe risolvere configurando opportunamente EDID.
