Ciao ragazzi, ho un problema con la chiusura del pc.
Quando spengo il pc, dopo aver fatto tutto quello che deve, esce la scritta power down.
Ho la slack 10.2 con kernel 2.4.31 .
Eseguendo i seguenti comandoìi ottengo come uscite:

APM e ACPI si escludono a vicenda.

APM è più indicato per i notebook, mentre ACPI è più indicato per i desktop.

Il mio .config è il seguente (però il kernel è 2.6.16)
Se il computer non si spegne (si ferma al messaggio 'power down'), vuol dire che il BIOS è troppo vecchio (precedente il 2000); in tal caso, bisogna editare /etc/lilo.conf e nella linea append bisogna aggiungere acpi=force.

Se la linea non esiste, la devi aggiungere tu; ad esempio:

append="acpi=force"

Ora aggiorna lilo e riavvia il computer.

invece di caricare apm (che tra l'altro non è nel tuo kernel), prova a caricaare acpi! oops, ho detto na cavolata..acpi ce l'ha statico nel kenel! allora la soluzione di Phobos è ottima!

scusate ragazzi, ma ancheio conil suo kernel non spengevo il pc automaticamente.... aggiornando il kernel invece..... tutto ok.....

dunque..calma apm NON è più indicato per i notebook:
apm è il "vecchio" sistema di gestione dell'energia -che include lo spengimento del pc-. salvo che il tuo hw non sia eccessivamente vecchio solitamente è l'acpi che si dovrebbe usare, essendo questo il nuovo "standard" .

ha ragione chi ti dice che le due tecnologie si escludono a vicenda. io tanto per fare un pò di pulizia direi che dovresti intanto disabilitare TUTTO il supporto apm e lasciare invece l'acpi.
In genere io mi trovo bene inserendo tutto il supporto statico ma questa è una cosa puramente soggettiva e soprattutto se hai un desktop è poco rilevante.

se il pc non si spenge con l'acpi può in effetti significare che è vecchiotto e che allora devi usare l'apm -che viene lasciato nel kernel proprio per problemi di compatibilità-. in quel caso il discorso si rovescia: disabilità TUTTO l'acpi e abilità solo l'apm.

per far spengere in automatico il pc quando è abilitato l'apm dai un occhio alla slackware4dummies. per far spengere in automatico il pc con l'acpi invece credo non si debba fare alcuna modifica... o per lo meno: una volta compilato l'acpi del 2.6.13 a me il pc si è spento da solo senza dover modificare niente in particolare (mi riferisco agli script gestiti dal demone acpid).

Allora, io ho una scheda madre asrock acquistata nel 2005 ed anche la versione del bios è recente.

Poi come faccio a compilare il modulo per l'acpi?
devo scaricarlo da qualche parte?
Io sono molto inesperto di linux, è da pochissimo che mi sono appassionato a questo bellissimo mondo.

se non sei pratico perchè non provi ad installare direttamente il kernel bareacpi.i della slack? ha il supporto acpi già abilitato!
