Salve a tutti...
Ho qualche problema a far girare Slack su un Aspire 9410...
Inizialmente i problemi erano numerosi ma con l'uscita dei nuovi kernel qualcosa sono riuscito a sistemare (ora uso il 2.6.20.1)
Quello che ora non mi da pace è il fatto che non riesco ad attivare il DMA dell hard disk... Ho cercato eventuali soluzioni in ogni modo ma senza risultato...

Provando a fare hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda, il risultato è questo
/dev/hda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)

Ho già ricompilato numerose volte il kernel includendo i (credo) giusti moduli (Intal PIIX/ICH Sata support) ma la situazione non cambia...

Qualcuno ha qualche consiglio? Sono mesi che non ne esco...

nella sezione IDE/ATA etc del kernel c'è una voce (un modulo) che, se ben ricordo, è un qualcosa del tipo "abilita DMA di default dui dischi" (o qualcosa del genere); hai attivato questa voce?...vedi mai che può risolverti il problema.
