hi, i need some help with mu printer i still can get it work in linux
i installed cndrvcups-common-1.80-i486-1mch.tgz and cndrvcups-lb-1.80-i486-1mch.tgz
i made
# mkdir /var/ccpd
# mkdir /var/captmon
# mkfifo /var/ccpd/fifo0
# chmod 777 /var/ccpd/fifo0
# chown root /var/ccpd/fifo0
then
# lpadmin -p LBP2900 -m LBP2900.ppd -v ccp:/var/ccpd/fifo0 -E
and i get error because in the packages above LBP2900.ppd is missing so i found it in the src file and extracted it manually in
/usr/share/ppd/

now # lpadmin -p LBP2900 -m LBP2900.ppd -v ccp:/var/ccpd/fifo0 -E gives me other error
lpadmin: Bad device-uri "ccp:/var/ccpd/fifo0"!

i didnt have captfilter, ccpdadmin, captdrv & ccpd and i copied them in /usr/sbin/
but i think it is because pstocapt is missing too, where can i get it from, please gimme a link and help me a llitle with this riddle

ok i fix this by taking the file from the rpm package.
I use Printer CUPS 1.3.9 there the status is
Printer Driver: Canon LBP2900 CAPT ver.1.5
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: ccp:/var/ccpd/fifo0

when i try to print anything and nothing happens.

captstatusui -P LBP2900 opens a small windows that says Message: Printer error
Check the DevicePath of /etc/ccpd.conf
it is DevicePath /dev/usb/lp0
which is correct i think

guessing from here, I think ccpd must run in background (I don't have the package, /etc/rc.d/rc.ccpd start?)

The canon driver is buggy

the ccpd daemon waste up 100% CPU and often don't work at all.

yes i have seen it...

root@slackware:/home/valio# /usr/bin/lpq
LBP2900 is ready
no entries
then i do a print and nothing happens.. here is the command again
root@slackware:/home/valio# /usr/bin/lpq
LBP2900 is ready and printing
