Soltanto per curiosità volevo chiedere perchè il kernel 2.6.30 è considerato "testing".
Mi trovo bene con il 2.6.29 di default su Slackware 13.0, ma considerando che si stà sviluppando il kernel 2.6.31,
volevo sapere se ci sono controindicazioni ad utilizzare il 2.6.30, dato che sulle note della 13.0 è consigliato il 2.6.29.

Da ciò che ho potuto leggere nel forum si tratta di un'incompatibilità tra 2.6.30 e Xorg, che diventa instabile. Ora chi ne sa di più ben venga

Added 2.6.30.5 generic Linux kernel packages in /testing. Release time
is getting close, so we're sticking with the 2.6.29.6 kernels as the main
kernels for Slackware 13.0. Besides, we know of at least one tricky issue
with 2.6.30.x and the LILO bootloader, and the workaround that we know of
likely isn't going to work on BIOSes older than 2001. Be sure to read the
README_FIRST.TXT (really!) in the directory with the kernel packages if you
intend to try these.

Bastava leggere il README_FIRST.TXT e capisci.

Il 2.6.31 dovrebbe uscire nel week end se vuoi aspettare , poi non so quando Pat iniziera` a lavorare sulla -current e che cosa decidera` per il kernel
