Security boot petizione di FSF

Su questo link potrebe firmare la petizione contro iol uefi o security boot. Per colpa della Microsoft si sta creando un sistema alternativo al BIOS. Questo nuovo sistema non permetterà la modifica del boot per sicurezza verso i malware, ma
questo bloccherà anche l'installazione di sistemi alternativi a windows come Linux appunto. Questo è il link della petizione, registratevi e firmatela grazie.

In teoria Linux è installabile se il Secure Boot viene disattivato oppure se ci sarà una chiave firmata per le distro.
Il problema sarà la ricompilazione del kernel che potrebbe creare non pochi problemi, se non si disattiva Secure Boot.
Il problema è: lo renderanno effettivamente disattivabile?
Ho scritto sulla bacheca di Pat su Facebook, chiedendo la sua opinione in merito al fatto che probabilmente Fedora/Red Hat pagherà 99$ a Verisign per ottenere una chiave firmata Microsoft per il Secure Boot.
La sua risposta è stata:
Yeah, this simply does not bode well, for more reasons than I could list. Personally, I think that all distributions should be requiring secure boot to be turned off rather than suffer the chilling effects. Buying into the scheme will likely lead to less hardware support for Linux, among other problems. I think most Slackware users enjoy compiling their own kernels and tinkering with parts of the system that would be locked down under secure boot. But luckily, our userbase wouldn't have too much trouble turning secure boot off in BIOS. For as long as that option is available, anyway...
