Ati open e compiz

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Scusate se torno sull'argomento ma sono curioso di capire dove sia il problema.
Visto l'incompatibilità dei driver open ho reinstallato i propietari, Compiz funziona in tutto ma nel ridimensionare le finestre, nell'aprirle e nel massimizzarle è lentissimo, inusabile diciamo.
Disinstallalo direte voi, concordo ma ormai è una sfida, è possibile che sia così lento su un portatile con 4 giga di ram e il dual core T9500?

Con i driver proprietari è normalissima la lentezza nel ridimensionare le finestre.

scusate se torno sull'argomento ma ho provato ubuntu sullo stesso pc e on ho questa lentezza con i driver propietari, da cosa potrebbe dipendere allora? non esiste che su slack vada peggio!!

Anche io avevo lo stesso problema.
Non ho mai provato con altre distribuzioni.
Perché non posti i due xorg.conf?

Ho provato a cambiare xorg.conf della slack e a sistemarlo come quello di ubuntu, ecezione fatta per Load "extmod" altrimenti compiz non funziona, ma comunque è lento lostesso, sarà qualcosa nel modulo extmod?

Forse dipende dalla versione di X?
In effetti non ho mai provato con la 12.2 e X 1.4.2.
Non so esserti molto d'aiuto...

Ciao,

Per abilitare il supporto 3D sui driver open purtroppo devi ricompilarti libdrm 2.4.1 e Mesa 7.2 che in slackware 12.2 non ci sono ovviamente, ( io l'ho fatto ) e neanche sulla current.

Quindi a meno che tu non voglia ricompilarti quei pacchetti dubito tu possa usare i driver open con quella scheda

ciao, il titolo del topic era per i driver open ma avevo visto che non erano compatibili, gli ultimi post riguardano invece i driver propietari che su ubuntu fanno girare compiz perfettamente mentre su slack 12.0 fanno pena.

Capisco, ma magari qualcuno seguendo il topic principale trova questa info che gli puo' essere utile, ad ogni modo paragonare Ubuntu a Slackware e' un discorso molto relativo ... perlomeno cosi come lo fai tu ... i file di configurazione va bene ma poi dovresti anche paragonare la versione di tutti i pacchetti xorg installati tra le varie versioni (senza contare che alcuni pacchetti potrebbero essere modificati o includere patch che in slackware non ci sono.

Slackware e' molto conservativa e restia ad utilizzare pacchetti nouvi se non testati, per esempio nella current ( che quindi non e' la 12.2 ) e' presente xorg-server 1.4.2 mentre l'ultima stable di xorg-server e' la 1.5.1 http://www.x.org/wiki/Releases/7.4 del settembre 2008 .

Comincia a paragonare i vari pacchetti e librerie ( e' un bel lavorone pero' ) e se proprio ci tieni ricompila tutto e allinealo alle versioni di ubuntu ( altro bel lavorone ) . Personalmente ritengo che avere un cubo rotante sia inutile e quindi io non lo farei mai ( anche perche' rischi di mettere incrisi la stabilita' del tuo sistema ) ma se per te e' cosi importante ;-) Buon Lavoro

nono non è importante, figuriamoci se voglio ch la mia slack vada a donnaccie :) per un cubo rotante, era solamente curiosità...
