Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

ecco anche il mio rc.M ... l'ultima riga:
che senso ha ? ... per segnalare che esiste un qualche bug nelle ultime Slackware che blocca talvolta il completamento dello script rc.M ... malgrado ciò il sistema raggiunge il login ... quindi le tue "manomissioni" allo script probabilmente non ne sono la causa primaria ... hai invece l'occasione di scoprire perché ciò accade ... io non lo so ...

Sì, probabilmente non l'hai mai visto, ma a me è capitato tra un aggiornamento e l'altro ... ho parlato di bug insidioso perché se ciò ti capita senza aver messo mano ad rc.M, il sistema raggiunge il login senza pensieri ... ma poi ti mancano dei servizi, direi che è sufficiente per spiazzare più di qualcuno ... anche perché non ha senso che uno script si interrompa così ...
siccome quando mi è capitato poi ho risolto aggiornando qualcosa (e non ricordo cosa), magari questa era l'occasione per scoprire il perché ...
comunque, non sarà frequente (quindi allarme relativo), ma sono certo che può capitare ...
EDIT: mi sono dimenticato, in sintesi: volevo dire che alla fine di rc.M ho messo un bel echo in giallo che mi evidenzia che lo script è terminato ... è capitato e potrebbe capitare di nuovo ...

visto che ti è capitato dopo un aggiornamento... hai sistemato i nuovi file di configurazione con estensione .new ? io dubito che si tratti di un bug di quel file...

Ti ringrazio per la precisazione, bisogna sempre ricordarsi dei .new ... ma in realtà mi è capitato aggiornando altre cose ... per me è ancora oggi "sconfortante" l'esperienza di uno script di avvio che viene eseguito per metà uscendo senza errori (al limite mi aspetto che si blocchi la macchina, non che tutto proceda senza errori) ... comunque mi scuso per aver enfatizzato la questione ... si creano dei falsi allarmi ... si sappia solo che una cosa del genere potrebbe capitare ...sya54M ha scritto:visto che ti è capitato dopo un aggiornamento... hai sistemato i nuovi file di configurazione con estensione .new ? io dubito che si tratti di un bug di quel file...

ma infatti non può uscire a metà script a meno che non metti un exit <int> e in quel file non ce ne sono, quindi non può terminare se non arriva alla fine

Ehi, nessun "riscaldo" ... se avevi semplicemente cancellato l'avvio di qualche servizio in rc.M chiaro che la questione si risolveva subito ... sya54M ha stra-ragione nel dire che uno script non può uscire così ... io dico solo che l'informatica ogni tanto è una "brutta bestia" ... quindi può essere che uno script si interrompa misteriosamente (salti di livello), specie nella fase più critica, cioè all'avvio ... sono certo che questo può accadere con rc.M ... il mio errore è stato di fare 1+1 con il tua segnalazione senza approfondire ...

io di solito modifico l'rc.M commentando ciò che non mi serve o non voglio far partire all'avvio proprio per poterlo ripristinare facilmente se dovessi esagerare. c'è qualche differenza rispetto al cancellarle proprio le porzioni del file che non servono? influisce sui tempi di avvio commentare anzichè cancellare o non cambia nulla?

Ancora meglio sarebbe fare una copia di backup dei files originali prima di modificarli, oppure andare a vedere in quale pacchetto del dvd sono e tenerlo a portata di mano
